  I got transferred out of Airway Heights Washington and I was super bummed because that area was so fun with all the sketchy trailer parks and fetty-walkers we called them aka homeless people tripping off of fentanyl pills. Some of the hardest goodbyes of my mission thus far came a few weeks ago when I left. I had to say goodbye to Mariah who was the lady that got baptized at the end of my time there. She was a miracle, she had been in contact with missionaries previously in her life but fell off the radar and when I got to the area I found her and we were able to teach her and she has a desire to get to the temple to do family history work for her deceased husband! When I told her I was going to Orofino she told me a story a way back in her crazy days she was hiding out in a trap house and the feds came busting up into the house so she tried to jump out of bathroom window and fell into a bathtub full of uncured meth and got horrible burns all over herself.   If you remember our friend Mariah who I talked about last week, well she is locked in for baptism this coming Saturday. She came to church yesterday which reinforced everything that we have planned with her. She is incredible! In her journey to this point her mom's side of the family has all walked out of her life and blocked her on every form of communication. Her in-laws are Satanist and do not support her son attending church with her but they don't mind too much that she comes with us. 34 of her home dawgs as she calls them got federally arrested for cock fighting, grand theft auto, money laundering, etc etc. Her son may have cancer and needs a blood marrow transplant and the only donor who is a match is her brother who is in federal prison with a bond of $700,000 because he is a big time criminal but I did meet him a few weeks ago and he's really chill.   It's been a while since I wrote an email. A lot has happened! So our friend Asia did get baptized! It was an incredible service. Her leg was still hurting from the bus accident so she stood for the duration of the entire service and when she walked into the font and I baptized her she said there was no pain in her legs which was a miracle. She has been coming to church to an earlier ward because she had a Sunday work schedule but just this week she was able to shift that around so we're looking forward to having her come to her ward and grow in the gospel.  In other news I have been quite busy with some of the craziest things I've seen in my life. I thought this area couldn't get any sketchier but alas it has .... We are teaching a friend named Clarice and we showed up to her house for a lesson and there were six cop cars in the front yard.   On Thursday I drove to the transfer site to drop off Elder Hatch. While there I saw Elder Rouland which absolutely made my day. I brought my Polaroid camera only intending to use it if I saw him there. I bought the camera halfway through the mission and was able to get a flick with all of my previous comps except for him. I've been trying to find him for months! I then met Elder Morgan my new companion, he's been out for 3ish months. I'm his first companion out of training haha. He is an absolute clown. He loves cars, shoes, and food and his vocabulary primarily consists of "monkey, dome smoked, etc" It will be a good transfer, because there will be learning and growth from the two of us.   Elder Williams Update! It has been a while. Last week was General Conference and that was a revelatory experience with a lot of wonderful talks given on the power of temples and Covenants made therein. One of my favorite talks was called "Pillars and Rays" and it reminded me of a BYU devotional I enjoy called "Flashes of Light." We had our friend Nathan watch with us and a member and he usually gets distracted easily but he was attentive the whole time which was a miracle. We watched another session with our friend Amasone with a senior missionary couple who lives in the complex near him and that was a miracle in of itself because we had gotten in contact with him 10 minutes before the session started and they were willing to host. The biggest miracle of all was our friend Asia! She was planning on watching Saturday morning with some members but her daughter kept her up all night so she slept in and she had to go to Oregon on Sunday to catch a court trial so she w

  This week was insane!! My companion and I have been clowning around town having a blast. We have been talking to everyone in our favorite trailer park and everyone is still too busy to talk. We met some more with our friend Nathan who is preparing to be baptized on the 7th! He is so funny, he really enjoyed the story of Laban getting his head chopped off. Update on our friend Asia.... we had a lesson scheduled and we arrived with fellowship. No one answered the door, so we left and came back 15 minutes later to that same area for other contacts. We heard a fire alarm going off and it was coming from her apartment! We ran to the door and she was fanning smoke out the entry way. She saw us and closed the door and opened it a few minutes later. From the doorway she started to get emotional and expressed a lot of concerns she has with our Church, doctrine, etc. The brunt of it were some scriptures she found in the Book of Mormon from an online source that taken out of context could come

  Howdy folks, it's been a minute so I thought I'd update you on the happenings of my life! Over the course of the last few weeks we sent off another missionary who headed home. He had weird flight logistics so he left 10 days into the transfer. The weather has been getting warmer and my teaching area has been producing lots of random people for us to talk to! There's this one trailer park that we call the "npc spawner" because so many people we've never met emerge from a collection of 5-6 camp trailers on one corner lot. We are teaching a 19 year old kid Nathan who lives there! He was referred to us by our recent convert Clint's friend son who is Nathans uncle. Real quick story about Clint. He was baptized a few months ago... he has never read from the Book of Mormon, still smokes pot and cigarettes, is a one legged diabetic man who lives in an absolute dump of a trailer and completely relies on other people to live.   This week was good. We had friends at church. I ate chicken. I went on an exchange and drove 30 minutes to someone's house in the woods and saw a double rainbow and then we ate lasagna and the members wife dropped the lasagna and screamed really loudly and it sounded like a dying cat.   Last email I talked about the referrals we received. Well this week we had to drop all three of them from our teaching pool. The Marshallese couple told my companion while we were on exchanges that they have been praying and they felt compelled to tell us their truth which apparently was being withheld from us. While back in the Marshall Islands they made a deal with their pastor that while in America for medical treatment that they could not join any other church. I was quite bummed when I heard this. Our other referral, Noel the drug addict who clicked one of our Facebook ads, fell off the radar when we heard from her son that an ambulance took her away to an institution of sorts. All three of these friends were on date for baptism. Also we have dropped more than 60% of our friends. This week will be a week of rebuilding!  A game I've played most of my mission (whenever you see a Subaru Outback you pretend to shoot it before the other passengers do) has picked up immensely in t

  I went on an exchange with my new-ish zone leader Elder Roberts on Tuesday. We had a good ole time goofing off with each other, we shared funny memories about our dearest friend Benjamin Preece who had actually trained both of us. We were talking with a construction guy who was ticked off because he contracted a job to clean a whole street of trashed trailers that squatters occupied for years. That street was sooo sketchy, we almost made a new friend but his phone is in prison compound. Wednesday aka Valentines Day aka Arizona's birthday came and we had zone conference and it was definitely top 3 best zone conferences I've ever attended. Elder Hal C. Hunsaker (area 70, church leader in the local area) popped in for a surprise visit and gave a really really spiritual devotional. Then afterwards we received much needed trainings.   This week was pretty dang crazy. Last week on our family home evening zoom call we received the news that Elder Andersen from the Quorum of the 12 apostles is coming to our mission on March 23rd for a mission-wide zone conference. We have not had a mission-wide conference in years. It's going to be really sweet, we as a mission are spiritually preparing ourselves for his coming. In other news we spent a lot of time in our favorite trailer park, Shorty McCombs park and unfortunately someone got shot and murdered in that park a few days ago. On that very street we have four progressing friends eek. Those friends are really cool and we have been working with them for a little over two weeks. We have our friend Lotus who is 10 years old and it seems like every time we go to teach her she has a different friend hanging out at her house.   Hey everyone! Hope all is going well in your life. Mine certainly got crazier this last week. My favorite zone leader Elder Montgomery from Snowflake arranged an exchange where him and I worked in Cheney Washington. One of the best days out here, we have so much in common and we had a blast. In the evening our mission president called his phone, we looked at each other like "whattt the" . He answers and is asked to take it off speaker phone. He got called to be the tech lead of the Washington Spokane Mission. We were a little bummed because I had just gotten to Spokane East but we knew his talents were needed elsewhere. I was just glad I got one exchange with him! The next day were interviews and mine was great. We counseled about the area and he said he was proud of me. Later that day I got a call from the assistants to the president and they called me to be the district leader in my area. Long story short the previous district leader was not performing well in his compani

  So I am in my new teaching area! It is called Airway Heights! We're about 30 minutes west from my previous area. I love it here, my new companion is pretty sweet. Our area is compromised of a casino, prison, the airport, air force base and a ton of trailer parks. It's such a wild town! I've only been here a few days, my 2nd day in the area I led an exchange and 6 new friends were found! I look forward to updating ya'll further, the Lord's work is the best work.

  Howdy everyone! I have a quick update.... - Our friend Willow got baptized! I have been working with her for the last few months! - I'm also getting transferred and getting a new comp! His name is Elder Hatch and I'm going to west Spokane near Cheney Washington (home of Eastern Washington University) - A missionary I live with is going home in 2 days and he is funny, Elder Lawyer is his name and we talk about country music all the time. - Um not much else has happened. pics - Willows baptism and Afghan man called me on Facebook 

  Our friend Willow is getting baptized on Saturday! We've seen her grow so much as she's been consistently meeting with us and coming to church. She's excited :)) Also this week I got sick so I stayed home for 2.5 days and it was miserable. I felt so ineffective but I was able to make dozens of phone calls and nurture our friends. I am feeling slightly better today but heck I got slammed by the flu or something. We had our stake conference this week and it was a remarkable experience. Wonderful talks were given and I received personal revelation. A lot of drama has been going down in the Spokane zone as well. Pride is always the downfall of great and mighty nations, haha in all seriousness everything is going just splendid. Every missionary has their quirks that we work through but we have seen so many miracles in Spokane. We brought our friend Brad to a Swahili baptism and it was so awesome. 4 sisters from Africa got baptized and I had the opportunity to be in attendance
