Yoohooo, it's been a minute 1-8-2024
Howdy, it's been a while hehe. I'm still in Spokane keeping on keeping on. Since my last email Christmas and New Years happened! So happy those holidays to each and everyone of you! Here in the big city we have seen lots of really cool miracles, I'll tell you about a few of them.
Willow has been one of the most stressful friends to work with. She is either super responsive over the phone or ghosts us for a day or two. We can't blame her. She is a busy single mama who is looking for a job. She has a huge desire to come closer to God and she is looking forward to baptism. Pray for Willow that her life circumstance may allow her to progress further in the Gospel!
Brad is a friend I've talked about before. Since then he has grown tremendously in the Gospel. He's introduced the Book of Mormon to his parents and he has been coming to church on a regular basis when he can. He has the cutest 5 year old daughter Olivia, she gave me a drawing of the 2 of us with fairy wings. Brad also gave me a carving he had done of a giraffe.
Matt is a person whose phone number I got months ago and we periodically texted back and forth for a few weeks, he sent us pictures of his cat. We were able to swing by and teach him and since then we have taught him off and on and this week we noticed a shift in his desire to learn more about the church. He came to church last week because his schedule allowed him. He usually works on Sundays. He also met with one of his friends who is a recently returning member and that friend shared his testimony of the Book of Mormon and related how his life is similar to Alma the Younger's and invited him to continue to study with us. He also came to a baptismal service and loved it, he said he wants to get baptized. We are praying for a miracle so he can get a new work schedule to where he can come to church regularly on Sundays!
Mary is a lady in the ward of another set of missionaries who I work with frequently, I have taught Mary on a few exchanges and she is the sweetest lady. She could have been baptized months ago but is in and out of the hospital so much. Her story is tragic. Her father worked in a laboratory and got exposed to some chemicals that made her family sick, since then she has developed Crohns and an interesting ailment where she mass produces kidney stones. She is constantly in pain and the missionaries had to wait for a day where she could be baptized! That day was last Saturday! Mary is a miracle, this has been a journey of a few months now!
In other news a lot has happened. We had zone conference and the morning of we received an announcement in our zone chat to pray for Elder Stubbs (for reference he is my zone leader and I also served around him in Moscow) his younger brother age 17 passed away at 1am that morning :// I'm not sure what the cause was but it was gut wrenching to imagine the grief that family was going through. Elder Stubbs came to zone conference nonetheless and was holding back tears all day, at the end he bore powerful testimony of the Plan of Salvation and cried so much, it was hard not to feel his pain.
Other random highlights from the last little bit!
