Highlights 9-25-202

Highlights from the week   (also I'm in Spokane now) - A literal 10 year old girl told me to come to her church because mine is wrong #outtapocket - I've seen a few tweakers with really nice sneakers  - I am in one of the few biking areas in the mission  - An 11 year old kid played the organ in church, that was actually so impressive  - Have you ever argued with a Russian? Well I have twice in the last 5 days CiaĆ³

Out this brick 9-20-2023

Welp I'm out this place. I'm getting transferred to Spokane. Every Monday evening we have a mission wide FHE zoom call with testimonials from departing missionaries and a "pre-game" type speech from our mission president. He counseled us to prepare ourselves for the upcoming 30 missionaries that are coming in. "We all are all gonna train" he said. More in the sense that it is gonna require everyone of us to maintain the culture of obedience, diligence, and faith filled discipleship that is always growing here in the Spokane Washington Mission.  Tuesday was a great day. I was able to run it back in the part of town that used to be the Paradise Ridge ward and I talked to a lot of old friends, ahhh felt like home. We had a few lessons and sat down with someone we found a week prior at the park and got bashed, left him with a testimony. We cleaned up a yard for an older lady. Her and I talked about our shared passion of true crime. We came home and there were

College Sports 9-11-2023

At the beginning of the week we taught our friend William and his fiancĆ© Nancy the Restoration in a coffee shop with Scott. I found him on Facebook and it was a wonderful lesson and they enjoyed it. A few days later he texted and said he did some "research" and doesn’t trust that faith alone can lead us to spiritual experiences. He needs tangible proof. He definitely got into some anti on the internet   pray for him! I spent the day in Pullman, that place was wild. We spent a few hours on campus with a booth for a student club fair. I shared dozens of scriptures as I sped walk with students on the way to class. I hear someone say "hi elders!" and when I looked up I saw the entire BYU womens volleyball team  we street contacted so much and found a few friends. We attended institute dinner with some friends the zone leaders are actively teaching. We had Dorito taco salad and learned about parables. There were a dozen missionaries there  and a Sister Skinner was ther

Update 8-28-2023

This week was absolute bonkers!!  We had our interviews with President LeBaron and him and I discussed the area and my struggles with the college. ( I literally don't know how to street contact on campus ) so President decided to emergency transfer 4 new elders into Moscow to cover the campus. It was something he had meant to do at the beginning of the transfer but it slipped his mind. So we had 24 hours notice to move apartments across town! We spent a lot of time packing and cleaning and moving all our stuff. We finally got settled today and we are doing well. We had some really cool but bizarre lessons this week.  Here are the main highlights.... - We had an exchange with Elder Rapp (he's the AP) - Interviews with President  - 5 new missionaries in the district! (Sister Searcy got transferred in because she received a concussion in her last area. Also the 4 elders for YSA) - We're in a car share again  - Spent some time moving appliances with Scott. All in all it was a

This week was nuts!  On preparation day we hooped with some middle aged women and they whooped us  I made 2 points.  On Tuesday we helped at a stake swap activity (yard sale but everything is free) I got a lamp for my uv plant grow light bulb. We then later spent some time on campus to try and find some college kiddos to teach. Down the sidewalk came a mob of sorority sisters headed to the local fraternity. Out of this random castle looking house poured a gathering of fraternity brothers. The 2 groups collided and then like a handful of them started kissing on each other  yo what. There's this funny thing college kiddos do, and it's heckling us missionaries. Some of them think they invented comedy and you just gotta roll with it haha. I made brownies with reeses pieces for 9pm dinner. Delisio! On Wednesday  we participated in a zone leader exchange in Pullman. Washington State University (the Wazoo) is literally going crazy with the most diverse people of all time. I talked t

L ife is all about change, whether we like it or not. It's been something I've struggling with as a missionary (getting transferred would have broke this camels back, thank goodness I'm staying in Moscow) Some of my best friends back home just got engaged. Another dear friend hit his 1 year mark on his mission. I've been out here for 9 months. I've already missed so many things (new Spider-Man, weddings, graduations, music albums, etc) There is an old adage out here in the field, "forget yourself and go to work." It's crazy how much joy and fulfillment there is in the work when you truly "forget yourself and go to work."  In the last few weeks our mission has seen so many miracles. Jesus Christ is at the head of this church, I bear solemn testimony of this divine truth. It's humbling to think that He has entrusted me, as weak and inefficient as I am to be a part of this marvelous work and wonder.  In the words of the long honored hymn Pra

Hey Elder (letter from mom) 7-31-2023

Howdy Elder Williams, I hope you are doing well. We have missed talking to you recently, but I know you are doing good things out there. I showed you our week in pictures a little bit. Branson got his wisdom teeth out and luckily everything went well for him. He had a pretty easy recovery as far as pain but he is still not able to eat all the good food he wants to or work out yet. But he is still playing pickle ball and watching all the movies.  Camden took a couple swim lessons from Gus sister and is doing pretty well. He jumped from the top of their grotto and has been swimming decently. I knew he would get it. Makes me happy. So me and Dad were working on the house on Friday and he started to not feel good and he came down with a fever that afternoon. So he went to bed and rested for the next couple days. His fevers were miserable and he wasn't able to sleep well. which for Dad is rare. He would toss and turn and he was miserable. So finally Sunday (yesterday) after church I t

For all those who still read my emails, I am alive and still in Moscow. The last few weeks have been quite interesting, the dynamic of our apartment is odd and we have a lot of fun. Some notable highlights are as follow.... - We have been able to see a few of our friends progress in the Gospel (Terra has been reading bits and pieces of the Book of Mormon) (Tony has come to church a few times and loves it) and our zone is finding loads of friends through tech and Facebook.  - I participated in a lesson with someone named Logan and we were able to bring fellowship who was wonderful for Logan, they were able to bond over military service. The Spirit was strong as I testified of church auxiliaries. - We have been able to participate in multiple exchanges, Elder Vavla and I have so much together.  - The city of Moscow has been going crazy with city events (they have a farmers market every Saturday, live concerts at the park, etc)  - We had preparation day at the LeBarons home (our mission
