What's Good? 5-1-2023
Hey y'all it's been a minute, not a whole lot has been happening with me....still in the same area....still doing the same work and I've been loving it....most days. We had a few crazy, fun, and spiritual experiences throughout the last few weeks and I will now bullet point them to consolidate.
• On an exchange with my district leader Elder Smith (his whole personality is God Guns & Trump) the very first door we hit a lady answered and she was depressed. She told us that when we saw 3 of our best friends die in front of us then we could come back, she then threatened suicide while holding a katana then slammed the door. Eek.
• If the name Jeremiah Poe means anything to you this story will be fun. Elder Thomas Tregaskes (a friend of mine serving in Italy texts me and says he has a video call lesson scheduled with Poe, a mutual friend of ours from school) when the day arrived all he did was bash as we tried to teach the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We tried to testify but the lesson ended up being a dumpster fire. Oh well, we still love Poe, he's a good friend of mine.
• I have become quite the "green thumb" on the mission, I have 5 different plants growing on my windowsill. It has been fun and actually very therapeutic.
• Last year fall got "skipped" and it seems to he the case that spring will be the same. Last week it was 30-40's and now we are in the 80's. It has been warm and toasty and opportunities for service (mostly yard work) have been increasingly more available. I'm grateful to finally see the sun, we are all pasty white and need sunlight.
• Last Monday we went to a park with a river and had a beautiful little nature walk that I thoroughly enjoyed, if there's one thing I'm struggling with it's not being able to just go for a drive through the woods. Nature is everything, Alma 30:44.
• The shenanigans in the house we live have become "off the wall", the Elders I live with are so funny and we get along great. Nightly pranks always ensue as Elder Bayless heads off to bed 30 minutes before the rest of us do. We've confetti cannoned his bed and many many other things.
Spiritual Experiences
•I had the very well waited opportunity to attend the temple this week, I love being able to escape the cares of the world and find peace in the walls of God's Holy House. The new change to the endowment presentation is inspired, I felt the Spirit so strong. I'd encourage whomsoever reads this to make it a goal to attend the temple as soon as possible. Love yall.
•I spoke in church yesterday on the strengthening power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and we were able to have a friend by the name of Jeff Vanderpool come. He's been missing in action for the last few months but he had the faith to reach back out to us to attend church. Miracles.
The mission has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life so far. I am looking forward to my time even more dutifully and with more love towards my Savior Jesus Christ. He loves you, He loves me. I love you.
