This week was a wild ride that's for sure. On Monday we were shooting hoops and a huge gathering of 14 year old boys showed up with this dude that had a really cool beard and then we proceeded to ball up with them. The teams were interposed between youth and elders. I was on the team with the scrawnier kids but we won. It was fun crossing kids up, breaking their ankles, they were slipping and sliding everywhere. Then the worst thing in the world happened. Our plumbing took a dive, there is a sump pump in our basement that takes the sewage up top where the septic tank is at. Posted in all of the restrooms is a sign that says do not flush more than 18 inches of toilet paper or feminine hygiene products or wet wipes etc. Or else you can clog the sump pump and it'll be a $250 fee to fix and repair. So we have been super diligent about following that rule, apparently some Elders months ago must have used dude wipes because the sump pump got clogged and the whole house started flooding with sewage water coming into the sink, out the bottom of the toilet where the seal is and in the shower and every time we use any sink its reeks of sewage aka poop water and it's just been an ordeal and a half.
For two days we were out of commission and thank goodness one of our stake presidency members owns a plumbing business so he sent his crew over and they fixed it and they remove the sump pump cover found the clog which is when we found out it was the dude wipes and oh my goodness those previous missionaries if I ever find out who it was......
This week I also got anti-ed a few different times, we were knocking doors and this lady said leave me alone I'm watching the Gonzaga game, (the Gonzaga basketball team is like a religion around here) people follow that team so close it's insane. Anyway she said go visit my neighbor she's super nice, so we go over there and the moment she opens the door she has a weird smile and then she steps outside and shuts the door, whenever that happens you can generally assume they're going to say something derogatory towards the Church. She proceeded to just pull out every claim that I've ever heard, using the John the disciple is still alive on this Earth, you think the Gold Plates were real where are they at now...etc etc and she just absolutely toasted us or so she thinks. So we bore our testimony on our belief of the restored church and Priesthood authority with Biblical evidences. We've been grinding the work and we have a friend by the name of Mary Taylor who is progressing towards baptism, it has been super awesome to see Christ's atonement work through her and just see the growth and progress she has made. Alma 7:11 - 12
•11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.
•12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.
I have a testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the same church found in scripture which has been restored for our day, the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and there are prophets on Earth at this very moment.
